Motorcyclist seriously injured in Gwaelod y Garth crash

Police have appealed for witnesses after a motorcyclist was seriously injured in a collision with a car on the outskirts of Cardiff.

Officers were called to the crash at the junction between Heol Goch and Main Road in Gwaelod y Garth in the north of the city at 0945 BST.

A blue and white Suzuki motorcycle collided with a Grey Nissan Micra car.

The motorcyclist, a 27-year-old local man, is being treated at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.

South Wales Police described the road as quiet at the time of the collision.

It said a road was closed while officers carried out an initial investigation but has since been reopened.

The force said they wanted to speak to anyone who stopped to help or may have seen the vehicle being driven before the collision and have not yet given their details.
