Police investigating the murder of 48-year-old man in Newport in April say a 40-year-old man arrested in Belgium has been charged with his murder.

Richard Carslake was found dead in a flat on Jeddo Street, Pill on 6 April this year.

The arrested man, who is from the city, was arrested in Antwerp, said Gwent Police.

He is due to appear at Caerphilly Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Gwent Police earlier said its officers were working closely with the Belgian federal police and were organising his extradition.

A 19-year-old man from Pontypool, Torfaen, has previously appeared in court charged with Mr Carslake's murder.
