CCTV released of Cardiff Spar shop raiders

Police have released CCTV footage of three masked men who threatened a shop supervisor in Cardiff before making off with cash from a till and cigarettes.

The raiders struck at a Spar shop on Clearwater Way in Lakeside around 2220 BST on Wednesday.

The 54-year-old member of staff was badly shaken but uninjured.

Detectives have also issued descriptions of the men who were wearing hooded tops, sunglasses and scarves.

'Lot of distress'

Det Serg Dafydd Hobbs, of Rumney CID, said: "This was obviously a frightening experience for the gentleman working in the shop and I would like to thank a witness for their prompt actions in dialling 999 and looking after the victim while the emergency services were en route."

He said he wanted to speak to anyone who saw the raiders before or after they entered the shop.

"They caused a lot of distress to the victim for a relatively small amount of cash," he added.

One of the men was of Asian appearance, around 6ft tall and in his 20s.

He was wearing yellow gloves, dark glasses, a black hooded top and a checked scarf thought to be a keffiyeh Arab headdress.

The second man was 5ft 4ins to 5ft 6ins tall, tanned, and was wearing dark glasses and a dark hooded top.

The other was wearing a distinctive dark quilted jacket which had a white logo on the chest area and on the back.
