Gwent Police plea on roadside death near Pontllanfraith

Police have appealed for information leading up to the death of a man, who was found on a roadside in the south Wales valleys.

The body of Ian Hamilton, also known as Parker Hamilton, 27, from Bristol, was discovered near Pontllanfraith in Caerphilly county early on Sunday.

He was seen walking from Blackwood bus station and it is known he walked along Penmaen Road towards Oakdale.

Detectives have examined CCTV footage and conducted house-to-house inquiries.

Anyone in the area between 0200 and 0400 BST, who may have seen something significant, is asked to contact 101.

Gwent Police said: "Officers are continuing to support Mr Hamiltons family at this difficult time and are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Mr Hamiltons death which is unexplained at this time."
