A 37-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Gary Suller in Cwmbran.

The body of Mr Suller, 45, was found at a house in Harold Street in Pontnewydd on Tuesday.

The man charged with his murder was due to appear before Caerphilly magistrates on Saturday.

A 26-year-old woman from Cwmbran who was arrested on suspicion of murder was released from police custody and will face no further action, police said earlier on Friday.

It was also announced that the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is investigating the way Gwent Police handled reports from Mr Suller in the months before he died.

Gwent Police referred the case to the IPCC when it became clear that Mr Suller had contacted police previously.

The commission said it would look into the way police handled several incidents prior to Mr Suller's death.
