Pedestrian road death witness appeal near Dinas Powys

Police investigating the death of a 25-year-old pedestrian in the Vale of Glamorgan have urged two potential witnesses to contact them.

The woman died after she was struck by a car on Cardiff Road near Dinas Powys about 09:20 BST on Sunday.

The driver of a black Ford Fiesta was arrested and is helping police.

Officers say they are keen to speak a cyclist and the occupants of a silver car, possibly an estate, travelling from Barry to Dinas Powys at the time.

The woman, who police say was local, was airlifted to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff where she was later pronounced dead.

South Wales Police said the road was closed for about five hours while officers carried out initial investigations and recovered a vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the South Wales Police Roads Policing Unit at Gwaelod-y-Garth on 01656 655555.
