Cows removed from rail line between Cardiff and Newport

A large herd of cows has been removed from the main line between Cardiff and Newport after earlier bringing trains to a standstill.

Some 45 cows were reported to be on the track at Marshfield, near St Mellons Golf Club, late on Tuesday afternoon.

Network Rail personnel went to the scene and rail companies organised replacement bus services.

All passengers were advised to check with their train operators before setting out on their journey.
