Deloitte to create 100 jobs in Cardiff expansion

A business advisory firm is opening new offices in Cardiff, creating up to 100 jobs.

Deloitte is to operate its risk and compliance management centre at Fusion Point 2 in the city centre.

Recruitment is under way with 18 staff expected to join the existing team when the company moves operations to its new office.

Business Minister Edwina Hart described the firm's expansion as a boost for Wales' financial services sector.

"It reinforces recent research that found Wales is now the preferred location for contact and shared service centres in the UK and also one of the UK's fastest growing locations for financial services investment," she said.

Deloitte provide audit, consulting, financial advisory, risk management, and tax services.

The risk operations team offers specialist risk management services to support Deloitte's UK and international operations.

The company set up a tax support unit in Cardiff in 2006 to provide risk management services to Deloitte's tax service line.

A company statement said the latest expansion represents an annual investment of £3m into the Welsh business economy.

Eluned Parrott, Welsh Liberal Democrat shadow minister for business and AM for South Wales Central, said it was "fantastic news".

"In these difficult financial times, it is businesses like these that can form the backbone of our Welsh economy," she said.

"The Welsh government must do all it can to provide support and encouragement so that we can make Cardiff a place where the private sector can flourish."
