Investigation into Cwmbran train station death

An investigation is being carried out into the death of a man on a railway line at Cwmbran on Friday.

British Transport Police and Gwent Police were called to the town's railway station after reports the man was struck by a train at 00:04 GMT.

Paramedics from the Wales Ambulance Service attended but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident is currently being treated as non-suspicious, and a file is being prepared for the coroner.

The train involved was the 20:30 GMT Manchester to Cardiff service.

The line was reopened at 02:34 GMT.
