A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a pedestrian died after a collision with a car in Cardiff Bay.

Kyle Griffith, 25, died in hospital after being struck by a blue Fiat Cinquecento in James Street at around 03:00 GMT on Tuesday, say police.

A man, 22, from Pentwyn, Cardiff, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and being unfit to drive through drink or drugs.

He was later re-arrested on suspicion of murder.

Mr Griffith, who lived in Cardiff Bay, was taken to the University Hospital of Wales where he later died. South Wales Police are appealing for witnesses.

The P-reg car had earlier failed to stop for police in the city centre.

The matter has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

James Street remains closed.
