Newport man charged with GBH over pellet gun eye injury

An 18-year-old man has appeared in court charged with grievous bodily harm after a 12-year-old boy was injured in a pellet gun incident.

Gwent police were called to an area behind Livale Road in Bettws, Newport, on Sunday afternoon.

The boy was reported to be in danger of losing the sight in one eye and was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital for emergency surgery.

The man, from the Bettws area, appeared at Caerphilly Magistrates Court.
