Rhymney arson: Two in hospital after flat attack

A man and woman are in hospital after a suspected early morning arson attack at a flat in the south Wales valleys.

Police say the pair escaped the property at Heol Aneurin Bevan in Rhymney at about 04:30 GMT on Sunday by jumping out of a second floor window.

They are being treated for smoke inhalation and back injuries but their condition is not life threatening.

Gwent Police said the fire was being treated as arson and are appealing for information.
