Rhymney arsons: Two separate fires at flat and house

Police say they are now investigating two separate arson incidents in a south Wales valleys town.

A man and woman were treated in hospital after jumping from a second floor flat in Heol Aneurin Bevan in Rhymney at about 04:30 GMT on Sunday.

A second fire, which damaged the front door of a house in Goshen Street on the same morning, burnt itself out.

Gwent Police said they were keeping an open mind as to whether the two incidents were linked.

In the first incident, a couple are being treated in hospital for smoke inhalation and back injuries.

A man was in the house at the time of the second incident but was not hurt.

Gwent Police have asked anyone with any information to contact them on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
