A family has paid tribute to a south Wales woman who died after the car she was driving hit a lamp-post.

Joanne Louise Jones, 23, from Aberbargoed, Caerphilly county, died after the incident at New Road, Cwmfelinfach at 23:00 GMT on Friday.

"Joe always had time for family and friends and was always there to help in any way she could," said the family's statement.

Gwent Police have asked any witnesses to call them on 101.

Ms Jones attended Aberbargoed Junior School and Bedwellty Comprehensive School where she was a member of the school choir and netball team.

She and a male passenger were taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport, where she was pronounced dead on Saturday.

The passenger, who had minor injuries, has been released from hospital.
