An armed robber is being hunted after he targeted a village post office in the Vale of Glamorgan and made off with a carrier bag of cash.

The man threatened a member of staff at Murch Post Office in Dinas Powys with a handgun at about 10:00 BST on Friday. No-one was injured.

The robber is described as white, in his early to mid 20s and approximately 5ft 10in (1.77m), and wearing a white and blue football scarf.

People are warned not to approach him.

He was also wearing a dark jacket, a cap with a brown peak and jeans and was carrying an Asda carrier bag.

Appeal for information

Det Insp Jason Redrup of Barry CID said it was rare for an armed robbery to happen in the Vale of Glamorgan.

"I urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone who may have seen the man described to contact us as soon as possible," he said.

"Any information, no matter how small, could prove important to our investigation."

Members of the public are warned not to approach the man but to instead contact 999 if they see him.
