Firefighters have finished pumping water from the scene of flooding in Bridgend in which several ground floor flats were evacuated.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews had been working on properties just off Coychurch Road, Brackla, since 08:00 GMT on Friday.

Seven adults and two children were told to leave their homes after a culvert was blocked.

The council opened a rest centre for residents of the properties affected.

Water was still being pumped from a property on Saturday morning but the final crew left the scene just before midday.

Bridgend council officers have been helping alongside fire crews to support residents, while Network Rail dealt with the blockage.

Network Rail said on Friday workers were laying a pipe underneath the railway track where the culvert is situated to allow water to drain away.
