Search for man 'missing in River Wye at Chepstow

A major search is under way on the River Wye at Chepstow after reports that a man has fallen into the water.

Gwent Police is being helped by Avon and Somerset Police helicopter as well as the Severn Area Rescue Association inshore rescue boat and the Chepstow coastguard.

The emergency was reported at approximately 14:46 GMT and police said the man has still not been found.

The man was seen falling into the water from the Wye Bridge.

A police spokeswoman said: "At this time the man has not been located but efforts continue to recover him from the water."
