Body of teenager found in park is investigated

Police are investigating the death of a teenager whose body was found in a park.

The girl, named locally as Angelica Witt, was discovered near her home in Ynysybwl on Sunday morning, 35 minutes after being reported missing.

South Wales Police have yet to formally identify her, but said the death is not being treated as suspicious and the coroner has been informed.

Flowers and tributes have been left at the scene and on her Facebook page.

The teenager was a pupil at Pontypridd High School where she was due to take her GCSE's this summer.

A South Wales Police spokeswoman said: "The body was discovered by a member of the public at around 10:30am on Sunday.

"An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death is underway although it is not being treated as suspicious at this stage.

"Next of kin and HM coroner have been informed."
