John Reeder cyclist death: Police given more time to question suspects

Police have been given more time to question four people arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a 63-year-old cyclist.

John Reeder, from Pontypool, suffered head injuries after falling off his bike in George Street, Pontnewynydd, Torfaen at 06:10 BST on Wednesday.

Three men aged 18, 19 and 23, and a 19-year-old woman - all from Pontypool - will be held for a further 36 hours.

People with information are asked to call 101, quoting log number 73 7/8/13.

Gwent Police said they were continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.

A spokeswoman added that officers were also trying to trace Mr Reeder's next of kin who they thought were living in the Yorkshire or Humber areas.

"We are asking anyone who is related to Mr Reeder or who may know his family to get in touch," she said.
