Man on three attempted murder charges after shooting

A man has appeared in court charged with three counts of attempted murder following a shooting in Newport.

Lewis Bridge, 22, from the city, spoke only to confirm his name before being remanded by magistrates in Caerphilly.

Mr Bridge was arrested after three people were taken to hospital following a crash in Chepstow Road when a car was shot at.

He will appear at Newport Crown Court on 19 September. Gwent Police are continuing to investigate the incident.

A second Newport man, aged 24, who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the crash has been released on police bail.

Meanwhile, two Cardiff men, aged 22 and 24, who were arrested on suspicion of drugs offences have also been released on bail.
