Bridge fall woman saved from river in Chepstow

A 57-year-old woman was rescued from a river near Chepstow town centre in the early hours of Thursday.

Gwent Police said she was reported to have fallen from the A48 bridge between Chepstow, Monmouthshire and Sedbury, Gloucestershire at 03:30 GMT.

The Severn Area Rescue Association lifeboat found her in the River Wye and took her to the ambulance.

She was taken by the Great Western Ambulance Service to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol, where she is stable.

The Welsh Ambulance Service also attended and sent a rapid response vehicle to the scene.
