Convicted killer Christopher Woodward escapes from jail

Police are hunting a convicted killer who has escaped from a prison in Monmouthshire.

Christopher Woodward, 44, absconded from Prescoed jail at around 08:45 GMT on Friday.

Also known as Christopher Hunter, he was convicted of manslaughter in Lincolnshire in 1999.

Gwent Police warn people not to approach him but to call 101 instead if they know where he may be.

Woodward is 5ft 10 in tall with a medium build. He has short cropped brown hair and blue eyes.

When last seen he was wearing blue jeans, blue shoes and a black bomber jacket.

He has contacts in the Lincolnshire area.

Gwent Police have asked people with information to call them on 101 quoting log 68 17/01/14.
