Police in Cardiff and Newport seize heroin worth millions

Nine people have been charged with drugs supply offences after heroin worth millions of pounds was seized.

In a joint operation by Gwent and South Wales police, the individuals were arrested at addresses in Cardiff, Newport and on the M5.

Det Ch Insp Lian Penhale, of the regional organised crime unit, said a substantial amount of cash was recovered.

The arrests were made last week following tip-offs from the public.
