Tributes have been paid to a couple who died in a crash in Rhondda Cynon Taf, leaving a nine-week-old son.

Lee Jenkins, 25, and Raquel Louise Davies, 23, were killed when their BMW 1 Series crashed after leaving the A4093 in Gilfach Goch on Saturday.

Their families said the couple loved each other dearly and were "devoted" to their baby son Harley.

A 20-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving remained in custody on Monday.

A tribute from Mr Jenkins's family said: "The whole family are heart broken at the loss of Lee and will cherish all the great times and wonderful memories he gave us.

"Lee was particularly close to his sister Lucy and his brother Thomas. He also loved his fiancée Raquel dearly and was enjoying being a new dad to Harley who is just nine-weeks old."

The family of Miss Davies described her as a beautiful person who would be sadly missed.

Witnesses sought

"She was a devoted and brilliant mother to her young son and loved her fiancé immensely," they added.

South Wales Police said the BMW had travelled through the village of Gilfach Goch along High Street and Cambrian Avenue before joining the A4093 towards Tonyrefail.

It then travelled past Hendreforgan when it left the road at about 10:30 BST on Saturday.

Officers want to speak to people travelling in a number of vehicles in both directions at the time of the crash.

Witnesses are asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
