Some bus routes which were due to be axed by Wales' largest bus operator Stagecoach in Caerphilly are to be replaced by a local company.

Harris Coaches will take over four routes in July when the Stagecoach services come to an end.

Caerphilly council said they had come to the arrangement with Harris Coaches following concerns raised over the axing of certain routes.

The company said it was "pleased to deliver these important services".

The company is taking over four routes with some revisions:

  • 7 - Blackwood - Ystrad Mynach - Pontypridd
  • 11 - Blackwood - Ystrad Mynach - Gelligaer (replacing some sections of the 538 route)
  • C16 - Caerphilly - Ystrad Mynach - Nelson (daytime routes only - Stagecoach continue to provide evening and Sunday services)
  • C17 - Caerphilly - Ystrad Mynach - Bargoed
