Fire in Pill, Newport: Two rescued from roof of flats

Two people have been rescued from the roof of a four-storey building on fire in Newport.

The blaze broke out at flats in Commercial Street, Pill, shortly before 04:00 BST on Monday.

Crews from four stations attended and used a hydraulic platform to reach the two people, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said.

The rescued pair were taken to hospital for a precautionary check. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
