A466 Tintern fatal crash victim named as Beryl Ellis

Police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly woman was killed in a road crash in Monmouthshire.

Beryl Ellis, 79, from Wyesham, Monmouth, was a rear seat passenger in a Ford Fiesta which collided with an Opel Manta on the A466 just north of Tintern at 12:00 BST on Sunday.

The driver of the Opel Manta suffered life threatening injuries. Four other people in the two cars were also hurt.

Gwent Police said they are keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened.

The Ford Fiesta was travelling south towards Chepstow and the Opel Manta was travelling in the opposite direction.

The injured people were taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol for treatment.
