Steel firm AIC Steel is to take on 40 new staff by December, taking its current Newport workforce to 120.

Engineers, project managers, surveyors and steel fabricators will be recruited at the factory in Lliswerry.

The company says it is seeking a £20m turnover by next year and plans to create more jobs and start an apprenticeship scheme in 2015.

The firm took over the former Rowecord site in March after it shut with the loss of 430 jobs in July 2013.

AIC Steel said it needed more workers after winning 23 contracts worth £9.6m in six months, including the redevelopment of Bristol City FC's Ashton Gate stadium.
