A man has been taken to hospital after his car plunged 20ft down a mountainside in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Firefighters used rope lines and a stretcher to rescue the man from the vehicle after it fell at Llanwonno, a hamlet on a mountain between the Rhondda and Cynon valleys.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service sent crews from Ferndale, Tonypandy and Pontypridd shortly before 07:15 GMT.

The man in his early 30s is believed to have non-life threatening injuries.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said he was taken to the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant with injuries including a broken arm.
