A nationwide appeal is to be made after a 17-year-old girl was raped twice by two people in a gang in a Cardiff park.

The victim was walking home after a night out when she was approached by the gang of five to six - of similar age - who ushered her into Gabalfa Park in the early hours of 17 October.

Officers will make the appeal on the BBC's Crimewatch programme on Thursday.

A reconstruction of the incident will be shown and police hope it might prompt people to come forward.

Det Insp Lloyd Williams said: "The incident occurred over a month ago now, so what people saw that night may be difficult for them to recall.

"This was an extremely concerning incident which shocked the local community. Incidents like these are rare, and we want to ensure those responsible are put before the courts."
