Abercynon body: Police appeal to trace four vehicles

Police investigating the discovery of a man's body on common land in Rhondda Cynon Taf are trying to trace the occupants of four vehicles.

A member of the public found the body in Abercynon at 19:00 GMT on Tuesday, near to the Whitehall Golf Club.

South Wales Police are treating the death as unexplained and forensic tests are being carried out.

The force said three cars and a van were spotted near the area at different times ahead of the discovery.

  • Two vehicles - a red car and white van - were seen near to where the body was found
  • A silver Fiat - possibly a Punto - was seen parked on common land beneath a pylon near Lechwyn Hall, which drove away after being seen by a man jogging through the area at around 17:00 GMT
  • At around 11:30 GMT a dark Volkswagen transporter was spotted parked at the junction between the A4054 and the road off it where the body was found, which leads to Whitehall golf club

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man's death is ongoing.

Forensic tests are being carried out to determine the cause of death.

Police are trying to trace next of kin before releasing any information about the man's identity.

Det Supt Paul Hurley, said: "We would like to speak to the occupants of the vehicles seen who may hold relevant information to our enquiry."
