Campaigners have lost their legal bid to block a giant waste incinerator which has been built in Cardiff.

They have been battling to stop the use of Viridor's Trident Park plant near Splott, which will burn up to 350,000 tonnes of waste a year.

In March, the High Court rejected the application by Cardiff Against the Incinerator (Cati) and an appeal of that decision has now failed.

The Welsh government said 36 jobs will be created at the plant.

The incinerator, which the owners say will power 50,000 homes, will become fully operational next year.
