About 30 people have contacted police after a teenager was raped twice by a gang of youths in a Cardiff park.

The potential witnesses got in touch with South Wales Police following an appeal on the BBC's Crimewatch programme.

The victim was walking home after a night out when she was approached by the gang of five to six who ushered her into Gabalfa Park in the early hours of 17 October.

Police ask other witnesses to call 101.

Det Insp Lloyd Williams said: "Following the Crimewatch show a number of calls were received on the night and several more as a result of the programme.

"We are now going through all of these calls and fully investigating anything new which they may have revealed.

"This was an extremely concerning incident which shocked the local community."
