Summer Dusseldorf flights return to Cardiff airport

Cardiff airport will see flights to the German city of Dusseldorf resume over the summer as airline Flybe adds a Saturday service.

The operator says it will start running weekly flights from the end of April until October.

In November, Lufthansa-owned budget airline Germanwings announced it was scrapping its service from south Wales.

The airport was bought by the Welsh government for £52m in 2013.

"This link not only adds to the direct destinations from Cardiff, but brings with it some great potential for inbound tourism into Wales from Germany," said Spencer Birns, the airport's business development manager.
