Arrest after pedestrian dies in A449 van collision near Usk

A van driver has been arrested after a pedestrian died on the A449 in Monmouthshire.

Gwent Police said a 44-year-old man from Tredegar was pronounced dead at the scene following the collision with a white Mercedes Sprinter van southbound near Usk at about 05:40 GMT.

The carriageway was shut from the A40, Raglan, and the M4 junction 24, Coldra.

A man, 41, from Monmouth has been arrested on suspicious of death by careless driving.
