A man had to be pulled from the River Taff in Cardiff City centre after struggling to get back to the bank.

Police, ambulance and the coastguard were called to the river at the Wood Street bridge, next to the Millennium Stadium, at about 18:20 GMT on Tuesday.

The coastguard pulled the man from the water and he was taken to Cardiff's University Hospital of Wales by ambulance.

He was described by the coastguard as being "conscious, but very cold".
