Blue plaque honour for trade unionist John Ewington

A blue plaque will be unveiled in the village of Abercynon in honour of trade unionist John Ewington.

Railway worker Mr Ewington is known for his claims of unfair treatment by his employer Taff Vale Railway.

The dispute in 1901 led to his colleagues going on strike, a move which is considered to have been pivotal in forming the Labour Party.

Rhondda Cynon Taf's mayor John Watts will unveil the plaque at Abercynon railway station on Saturday.
