John Ernest Roach named as Tredegar death crash victim

A 76-year-old pedestrian who died after being hit by a car in Blaenau Gwent has been named as John Ernest Roach.

Mr Roach died after the collision involving a Mazda car on The Promenade in Tredegar at 09:45 BST on Tuesday.

He suffered severe head injuries and was taken to University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, where he later died.

Gwent Police said a 54-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving had been released on bail pending further inquiries.
