The public has been warned to make sure they have the correct equipment at sea after the rescue of a missing kayaker.

Three lifeboats were launched around 12:50 BST on Friday to rescue the man off the Porthcawl coast, who had no wetsuit or life jacket.

After a 40 minute search, he was found by Porthcawl RNLI and airlifted to hospital.

Crew member Ross Purchase said it is essential people wear a flotation device and check tide times.
