An investigation has been launched into a fire at a disused school in Cardiff, with the fire service saying it was probably started deliberately.

The blaze, at Glyn Derw High School on Penally Road in Ely, was reported at about 22:00 BST on Thursday.

At the peak of the fire, 54 firefighters and seven engines were on site. Nearly half of the school was destroyed but no-one was injured.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said the building had been left unsafe.

Crews have been keeping a watch on the site throughout Friday.

Glyn Derw pupils moved into Michaelston Community College over Christmas.
