Hafodyrynys crash: Arrest made as man remains critical

A 56-year-old man has been arrested after a Caerphilly county crash left a pedestrian seriously injured.

The collision happened on the A472, between Hafodyrynys and Crumlin, at about 03:45 BST on Sunday.

The 37-year-old pedestrian was taken to hospital and remains in a critical but stable condition.

A man arrested on suspicion of driving without due care and attention and failing to stop at the scene of an accident is in police custody.

Gwent Police said it is keen to speak to several motorists in the area at the time.

These include two motorcyclists travelling towards Crumlin, the driver of a Ford Focus estate travelling to Crumlin and the driver of a Mercedes C Class Compact travelling to Pontypool.
