A silver handgun was used in an armed robbery at a Newport betting shop on Saturday night, police have said.

Gwent Police described it as "extremely distressing" for staff at Betfred on Caerleon Road, but said nobody was seriously injured.

The robbery happened at 21:20 BST, with a man in his 40s making off with cash from the till.

Officers are looking for a white man of medium to stocky build who was wearing a dark-coloured hooded top.
