Man, 43, charged over Newport bookies armed robberies

A man has been charged with robbing two Newport betting shops at gunpoint.

The 43-year-old was arrested in connection with armed robberies at a Betfred and William Hill in the city.

Gwent Police said a Chepstow man had been charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Newport Crown Court on 12 August.
