Motorists faced delays of up to 60 minutes on the westbound M4 between Pencoed and Cardiff after a lorry left the carriageway near junction 35.

Two lanes were originally closed for the vehicle to be recovered but have since reopened.

South Wales Police and Traffic Wales said queues had stretched back to junction 32 Coryton Interchange.

Traffic was also queuing northbound on the A4232 Ely link road from the A48 at Culverhouse Cross.
