A retired psychiatrist has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a mental health support worker in Rhondda Cynon Taff.

Dr Brian Harris, 77, worked for the NHS and in a private practice in Cardiff for 40 years.

A Merthyr Crown Court jury cleared him of two charges of rape against another patient and two of causing another to engage in a sexual act without consent.

The jury is considering six charges of indecent assault and sexual assault.

Harris is said to have committed the offences over a 20-year period from 1991 up to 2011.

At the start of the five-week trial, he faced a total of 13 charges.

On Wednesday, he was cleared by the jury of a sexual assault and a rape claim.

The deliberations continue.
