Man arrested after assault in Swansea city centre

Police investigating an attack in Swansea city centre that left a 30-year-old with a life-threatening neck injury have made an arrest.

A 21-year-old man is being questioned about the assault at the junction of Northampton Lane and Craddock Street at about 0435 BST on Sunday.

The victim is said to be in a stable condition at Morriston Hospital.

Detectives said they still needed to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident.

The 21-year-old, who police said was local, was arrested on Tuesday morning and is being detained at Swansea Central Police station.

Det Ch Insp Simon Davies said: "Even though we have made an arrest our investigation is still in its early stages and our enquires are continuing.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity and saw the attack to come forward."
