Woman, 81, injured in road collision in Swansea

An 81-year-old pedestrian is seriously ill in hospital after she was involved in a road traffic collision near Swansea city centre.

South Wales Police said the woman came into contact with a Ford Fiesta car.

It was travelling along Oystermouth Road towards Mumbles in the incident at the junction with Albert Row at about 1639 GMT on Saturday.

The woman was taken to the city's Morriston Hospital, and police said she had serious injuries.

Officers asked any witnesses who either saw the collision or who stopped to provide assistance to contact them.

The road was closed for approximately three hours for initial police investigations.
