Fire cuts power at 750 properties in Swansea

Some 750 Swansea city centre properties suffered an electricity cut after a high voltage cable fault sparked a small fire, say power suppliers.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service attended a basement fire in Alexandra Road after they were alerted at 0520 GMT on Monday.

Western Power Distribution said the fault is ongoing but power was restored to all properties within an hour.

No other fires were reported, said emergency services.
