Port Talbot burglary crackdown five arrests

Police have made five arrests following a spate of house burglaries in the Margam, Taibach and Baglan areas of Port Talbot.

Officers launched Operation Ontario after the break-ins in recent weeks.

It involves extra uniformed patrols as well as plain-clothed officers working in the area.

Three youths aged 13 and 14 and two adults aged 27 and 33 have been remanded on police bail in connection with a burglary in Margam.

Sergeant Melanie Baker of the Port Talbot neighbourhood policing yeam said: "Part of the operation will be to raise awareness of burglaries as some of the recent break-ins have been of insecure houses where people have left doors unlocked.

"There will be extra patrols in the area during the day and we will be targeting our resources at specific times of the day when these offences take place.

"We will also be stop-searching those who are suspected of committing offences."
