Body on Swansea street 'not suspicious at this stage'

Police investigating the death of a 37-year-old woman whose body was found on a Swansea street say it is not being treated as suspicious at this stage.

It is the second death in the street in a week after the body of a 34-year-old woman was found the previous Tuesday.

The 37-year-old was found on Griffith John Street at 0710 GMT on Monday, although she did not live in the area, said South Wales Police.

A post-mortem examination was being carried out, said the force.

Det Insp Peter Doyle of Swansea CID said they were investigating the circumstances leading up to the discovery of the body on Monday.

"We are appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in Griffith John Street between 5.55am and 7.10am to come forward," he said.

"The woman did not live in the area so I would appeal to any residents of the Griffith John Street flats to contact us should they have seen or heard anything unusual."

The body of the 34-year-old woman was found in a property in the street at 1440 GMT on Tuesday, 8 February.

Detectives have appealed for anyone with information to contact them on 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
